Larian Studios Unveils Plans for Physical Release of Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition

An announcement for physical media enthusiasts, Larian Studios, riding high on their victory of seven awards at the Golden Joysticks, is preparing to launch the physical Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition.

Following up on this success and garnering eight nominations at The Game Awards, the studio revealed that the deluxe edition will hit the markets for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in the first quarter of 2024, priced at $79.99.

The upcoming edition promises an experience that embraces physical media, a move that Michael Douse, Larian’s Director of Publishing, sees as the potential future trajectory for the studio.

Douse expressed the team’s dedication to perfecting this approach, leveraging insights gleaned from previous Collector’s Edition releases to craft what they envision as an unparalleled value for their standard physical version. He acknowledged the challenges of game archiving but emphasized the studio’s commitment to experimentation, even if it means accommodating multiple discs.

The physical release is set to feature multi-disc installations, with the PS5 version occupying two discs and the Xbox version a staggering three, while the PC version will utilise a DVD for the installer alongside a Steam key.

This Deluxe Edition, distinguishable from the Collector’s Edition, will be exclusively available through Larian’s dedicated store, with restocks planned beyond the initial launch to accommodate interested players.

While the physical editions are slated for a Q1 2024 release, Larian Studios teased the reveal of the long-awaited Xbox digital version’s release date during The Game Awards on December 7.

Enthusiasts can now preorder the Deluxe Edition, which boasts a collection of physical goodies, including a game disc for the chosen platform, encased in an oversized box designed to complement existing Baldur’s Gate collections.

Furthermore, the Deluxe Edition encompasses an array of additional items, both physical and digital, ranging from an original soundtrack on three CDs to digital artbook and character sheets, providing a comprehensive package for avid fans.
